These broadly included the commitment to an inclusion of a <strong>Right to Health Act<\/strong> in their election manifestos. For realizing the right to healthcare in Puducherry, the appeal set our six areas for priority action:<br \/><br \/><\/p><ul><li>Legal Recognition of access to healthcare as a justiciable right<\/li><li>Elimination of Out-of-Pocket Expenditure<\/li><li>Focused Action on Disease Burden<\/li><li>Comprehensive Elderly Care Framework<\/li><li>Strengthening Primary and Emergency Care<\/li><li>Accountability and Regulation<br \/><br \/><\/li><\/ul><p>The overall principle was stated as \u201cHealth and Healthcare must not be treated as a market commodity. It is a fundamental human right. We call upon the Government of Puducherry to take immediate legislative and administrative action to ensure that no family falls into poverty due to medical expenses, that prevention is prioritized, and that universal health care becomes a reality for every resident.\u201d<\/p><p>To amplify these demands, a press meet was organized, and the Forum has actively engaged with media houses to ensure wide public dissemination through newspapers and other platforms.
